The Perfect Acclimatization Adventure
The 3 Day Mount Meru Climb & Hike is the ideal journey to prepare for your Mount Kilimanjaro ascent. Mount Meru, the third highest peak in Africa and the second highest mountain in Tanzania at 4,568m, offers a challenging and rewarding experience.
Situated within the picturesque Arusha National Park, trekkers have the unique opportunity to spot the diverse wildlife that thrives in this natural haven.
Your adventure begins with arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport or a similar airport. You’ll be greeted, transferred to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha, and provided with overnight accommodations, complete with a delicious breakfast to start your journey.
Day 1
- Arrival
- ✈️ Airport Pick-Up: We’ll greet you at Arusha or Kilimanjaro airport and provide transportation, including your return trip to the airport.
- 🏨 Hotel Accommodation: Enjoy your first night in a comfortable hotel.
🛌🏻 Spend the night in a hotel, the same one as your first night’s stay.
🚌 Note: Transportation to the airport is included after your last night spent in the hotel.Day 2
- Hotel to Momella gate to Miriakamba Hut
- 1 hour and 30 minutes drive from Arusha to Momella Gate
- Completing procedures at the gate before embarking on the trek
- Trekking through scenic areas offering breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the famous Momella lakes
- Encountering wildlife, including Bushbucks, Cape Buffaloes, Giraffes, and Warthogs, along the way, and reaching Miriakamba hut after a short distance.
Day 3
- Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut
- Trekking along the steep path on the ridge of the saddle
- Witnessing the stunning Meru crater, ash cone, and little Meru
- Possible encounters with wildlife, such as Cape Buffaloes and black and white Colobus monkeys
- Settling at Saddle hut, followed by a short acclimatization trek to little Meru (3810m) and returning to Saddle hut
Day 4
- Saddle Hut to Summit to Miriakamba Hut to Momella gate
- Waking up just after midnight and having a light meal for energy
- Starting the final steep ascent to Socialist Peak, navigating through gravel and rocky cliffs
- The most mentally and physically challenging part of the trek
- Reaching the summit to enjoy magnificent views of the Meru Crater and Ash cone, with possible sightings of wildlife like mountain Reedbucks and Klipspringers along the rocky ridge.
