Upon arrival at the first campsite, you’ll be greeted by your safari guide, who will provide a briefing and orientation. You’ll set up your camping equipment and settle into the campsite, ready to embark on your safari adventure. Throughout the safari, delicious meals will be prepared by the camp chef, providing sustenance for your exciting days.

The safari adventure begins with full-day game drives in wildlife reserves or national parks. Accompanied by knowledgeable guides, you’ll have the opportunity to explore diverse landscapes and encounter a variety of wildlife species. These game drives will take you through different areas of the reserve or park, maximizing your chances of wildlife sightings and offering a glimpse into the rich biodiversity of the region.

In addition to game drives, the itinerary includes a guided nature walk, allowing you to immerse yourself in the smaller wonders of the bush. Led by experienced guides, you’ll learn about the local flora, fauna, and tracks left by wildlife. Packed lunches will be provided during the nature walk and game drives, allowing you to enjoy a meal surrounded by the natural beauty of the area.

Throughout the camping safari, you’ll have time to relax at the campsite or participate in optional activities offered by the safari company. These activities may include birdwatching, cultural experiences, or simply unwinding amidst the tranquility of the wilderness.

Day 1

  • Arusha – Tarangire National Park
  • Depart after breakfast for a Tarangire National Park game drive, stopping at a supermarket in Arusha Town for last-minute purchases.
  • Drive along The Great Northern Highway, passing through Masai steppe and villages on the way to Tarangire.
  • Explore Tarangire’s diverse wildlife, featuring Baobab trees, a large elephant population, wildebeest, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, hippos, baboons, and various antelopes.
  • Birdwatchers can enjoy over 400 bird species, including rare ones like Ash Staling, Great Kudu, and fringed Eared Oryx.
  • Encounter predators such as lions, cheetahs, hyenas, jackals, and elusive leopards in the park.
  • Experience the central migratory cycle with thousands of elephants, wildebeest, and zebra. Later, drive to Migombani public campsite for a sunset view, dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 2

  • Tarangire – Lake Manyara National Park
  • After breakfast, a short drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a diverse game drive amid varied habitats.
  • Lake Manyara features dramatic landscapes, including underground water forests, acacia woodlands, swamps, baobab-strewn cliffs, and a large lake area.
  • The park supports a rich variety of animals and impressive birdlife, including the world’s largest concentration of baboons.
  • Noteworthy attractions include large flocks of flamingos and the unique sight of tree-climbing lions.
  • Spot herds of buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, warthog, and various antelopes during the game drive.
  • Late afternoon return to Migombani Public Campsite for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3

  • Lake Manyara – Serengeti National park
  • Begin the day with breakfast at your campsite before departing for Serengeti National Park.
  • Travel through the picturesque farmland of Karatu and Ngorongoro Conservation Area, stopping at the Ngorongoro gate for check-in and a scenic view of the crater floor.
  • Drive around the crater rim, across Malanja depression, and descend to the world-renowned Serengeti National Park with its endless plains.
  • Check in at Naabi Hills gate, enjoying a packed lunch amid the rocky outcroppings known as kopjes.
  • Head to the central Serengeti area, Seronera, a rich animal habitat with the Seronera River attracting a diverse range of wildlife.
  • After lunch, embark on an afternoon game drive, searching for big cats and witnessing the wildebeest migration (depending on travel time), then conclude the day at Seronera Public Campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 4

  • Full Day Game Drive in Serengeti
  • Start the 6-day Tanzania camping safari with an early morning game drive in the vast Serengeti plains from 06:30.
  • Spot the cat family and observe other nocturnal predators returning from hunting or lionesses organizing morning ambushes.
  • Break for a bush breakfast amid the Serengeti, a scene of the Great Wildebeest Migration (depending on travel time).
  • Follow the migration herds, spending time to witness various animal actions like eating, fighting, and killing.
  • Enjoy a full-day Serengeti game drive, returning to the campsite before sunset for dinner and overnight.

Day 5

  • Serengeti – Ngorongoro Conservation Area
  • Begin the day early at 6:30 am with a packed breakfast, followed by an early hot lunch back at the campsite.
  • Head to Ngorongoro Conservation Area with an en-route game drive, arriving at Simba Campsite for a sunset watch.
  • Experience camping orientation, enjoy dinner, and spend the night at Simba Campsite.

Day 6

  • Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha – Airport
  • Commence the day as early as 06:30, descending over 600 m into the Ngorongoro Crater for game viewing after breakfast at your campsite.
  • Learn about the natural wonder formed 3 million years ago, supported by a consistent water supply, and witness a variety of animal species, including buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, and elephants.
  • Encounter a high concentration of predators, including lions, cheetahs, jackals, hyenas, and the elusive leopard during this 6-day Tanzania camping safari.
  • Explore Lake Magadi, a large alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, frequented by hippos, flamingos, and other aquatic birds.
  • Late afternoon, drive back to Arusha/Moshi for an overnight stay or drop off at Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Incredible experience made all the more special by Honest and his team We couldn’t endorse Honest and his team more. Immediately after meeting, we were made to feel extremely welcome, safe, and informed, which remained throughout the duration of our adventure.We first climbed Mount Meru where Honest took us to spots to see Giraffes in the wild as well as many monkeys, warthogs, and other animals. This served as the perfect preparation for Kilimanjaro.The team we had for Kili was exemplary. The whole time there was a real bond between the entire group. We’d regularly spend time beyond meal times talking with Honest and Justin about life and the adventure we were currently on which was extremely insightful. The food also far surpassed our expectations with exactly the type of fuel we needed such as pastas, fruits, eggs, etc. Our chef was called the “stomach engineer” for very appropriate reasons!Throughout the climb, Honest ensured we maintained an enjoyable tempo and there wasn’t a moment we felt too slow or rushed. The culmination of this was being fresh for summit morning and being the first team to summit, just as the sun was rising. With minor altitude sickness in the team on descent, Honest gave appropriate nutrition and instruction to manage the situation. Thereafter, there was a party atmosphere within the group, even having music and dancing on the last morning of the descent where we exchanged gifts and final stories.Overall, it was the trip of a lifetime made all the more special by Honest and his team. Perfectly prepared and executed that set us up for success. The relationship with Honest was tremendous, so much so that we are still in regular contact today and when a return trip is due, there are no hesitations in going straight to Zanzi Trekking and Safaris.
