Starting at the Rongai Gate, the journey spans various landscapes, encompassing lush forest, enchanting moorland, and the awe-inspiring alpine desert before culminating at Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 meters.
Itinerary: This comprehensive itinerary entails six days of trekking and one dedicated to acclimatization. Carefully designed to allow climbers to acclimatize to the altitude, it significantly enhances the prospects of successfully reaching the summit. Suitable for both beginners and experienced climbers, the Rongai Route necessitates a good level of physical fitness and unwavering mental determination.
Guides and Support: Led by experienced guides and supported by dedicated porters, trekkers can focus on the journey while their gear is carried. Trekking days typically range from 3 to 7 hours, with the exception of the summit day, which can be an epic 15-hour adventure.
Conclusion: The trek culminates at the Marangu Gate, where triumphant climbers are awarded their well-deserved summit certificates. It’s a moment to celebrate with the dedicated team who made the journey possible and to reflect on the incredible achievement of conquering Africa’s highest peak.
Day 1
- Arrival
- ✈️ Airport Pick-Up: We’ll greet you at Arusha or Kilimanjaro airport and provide transportation, including your return trip to the airport.
- 🏨 Hotel Accommodation: Enjoy your first night in a comfortable hotel.
🛌🏻 Spend the night in a hotel, the same one as your first night’s stay.
🚌 Note: Transportation to the airport is included after your last night spent in the hotel.Day 2
- Rongai Gate (1,950m) to Simba Camp (2,650m)
- After breakfast, drive to the Rongai Gate on the northeastern side of Mount Kilimanjaro. Complete registration formalities and meet the rest of the climbing crew.
- Start the trek through the lush rainforest, where you can spot wildlife along the way, and continue until you reach Simba Camp. Simba Camp is situated in a scenic area with excellent views of the plains.
Day 3
- Simba Camp (2,650m) to Second Cave Camp (3,450m)
- Leave Simba Camp after breakfast, continuing through the moorland zone.
- Pass the Second Cave en route to the campsite.
- Enjoy breathtaking views of Kibo Peak and the eastern ice fields.
Day 4
- Second Cave Camp (3,450m) to Kikelelwa Camp (3,600m)
- Leave Simba Camp after breakfast, continuing through the moorland zone.
- Pass the Second Cave en route to the campsite.
- Enjoy breathtaking views of Kibo Peak and the eastern ice fields.
Day 5
- Kikelelwa Camp (3,600m) to Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330m)
- Start the day’s hike, gradually ascending through the alpine desert zone.
- Arrive at Kikelelwa Camp, surrounded by stunning mountain scenery.
- Rest, enjoy the views, and acclimatize to the higher altitude.
Day 6
- Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330m) to Kibo Hut (4,700m)
- Begin the day with a steady ascent to Kibo Hut, the base camp for summiting.
- Traverse rocky terrain and arrive at the hut in the afternoon.
- Rest, hydrate, and have an early dinner before the summit attempt.
Day 7
- Kibo Hut (4,700m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) and Horombo Hut (3,720m)
- Wake up around midnight to start the final ascent to the summit.
- Trek through the steep and challenging scree slopes of Gilman’s Point.
- Continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, for a triumphant moment.
- Descend to Horombo Hut, passing through various ecological zones, and celebrate your accomplishment while resting at the hut for the night.
Day 8
- Horombo Hut (3,720m) to Marangu Gate (1,860m) and Moshi
- Descend through the lush rainforest, enjoying the rich flora and fauna.
- Reach the Marangu Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificates.
- Bid farewell to your climbing crew and transfer back to your hotel in Moshi.
- Rest, relax, and celebrate your successful Mount Kilimanjaro expedition.
